Grass is Always Greener on the Other Side

Well man oh man oh man, its been awhile (sorry Maria). But here comes a huge update coming your way exclusively for your entertainment. It has been FOUR months now sense you have last heard from me and a lot has happen. From sports, to traveling, and to friends. Where too begin? First off frisbee is going great I love going to practice and heading out to some intense weather tournaments. My team is kick ass and a blast to hang out with! My skills have defiantly picked up over the last couple of months from practicing with the Olympia frisbee team, because I am working with more advance players. We as a team are working and flowing a lot better together, which is awesome. I am stoked on this sport and I feel I will continue if for years to come.

Now on the traveling front I have been exploring to the extreme! First I went to go visit my friend Avery at his lovely home on San Juan Island. He lives in Friday Harbor and me and four other friends stayed with him for 4 days. It was great he took us all over the island. We did a lot of hiking and exploring through the woods and on the beaches. It was so beautiful, what a sight. We climbed some great rocks at west side beach, and also went and saw the lighthouse. There was a great little place called Eagle Cove which is where Avery and his friends would go skin boarding. We had a great dinner at the pub where Stephen works and he made us some tasty burgers. We enjoyed meeting Avery's creative parents who told us many stories and some great jokes. Being with my close friends around a bonfire sharing some crazy conversation was marvelous. My next camping trip was out to La Push beach with a couple of friends from frisbee. My friend Katelin works for Americore and volunteers for the coast savers. So me and a couple of friends join her to the beach where we camped 3 nights and clean the beach saturday all day. It was amazing the amount of trash you could find on that beach. Besides picking up trash Andy, Levi, and I enjoyed some wave running on the beach, climbing the Hole in the Wall rock, and building an awesome log fort. The beach was amazing and the waves were huge.

Finally I just got back from my most recent camping trip which was with my class Educating on the Wildside. As a class we all headed up to the Sinlahekin Valley up in the northern Cascades. It was about a five hour drive including all the bathroom breaks being that we did had two vans full of students. Once we were there we made some dinner and set up camp. Some students camped right next to the research bunk house but me and others went on a little hunt to find a nice spot in the woods. The next day we headed out to explore the land. Dylan and Amy (my teachers) took us out to many different spots of the valley and taught us about the land, plants and animals. We then went on a four mile hike back to our campsite which was fun, because we explored without our teachers. Now that we filled our heads with knowledge we used it the next day now being thursday to teach 7th and 8th graders about the valley. We being the college students split into groups and the 7th and 8th graders shuffled through the different stations along the valley. My group taught them about water run-off and how there is a more variety of plants in the center of the valley. Because of our extraordinary skills of teaching the teacher of the 7th and and 8th graders invited us over to her winery. She had pizza, salad, and s'mores waiting for us to enjoy. There was great conversation and she told us a lot about her new winery.

Now here is the best part of the last four months. I have just introduced a new member to my family. My roommates and I now have a beautiful little kitty. Her name is Elliot, Elle for short and she is 6 weeks old and so adorable. With blue eyes and fluffy gray fur. Great story of how I got her. While being in the Cascades for four days I became really close with many class mates one being Ellie. We both love cats and couldn't stop talking about them because they were everywhere at the research center and winery. So on our journey home we stopped at a shell station and got some food and did our business. On our way out there was a litter of kittens and the girl was giving them away for free! It was fate Ellie and I both had to take one home so we did. They did great on the ride home and her brother which Ellie decided to name Wolfgang is off to Seattle to live with Ellie's boyfriend. Sara, Adrienne, Jeannette, and I our stoked to have a little critter running around. We're watching her closely and are working on potty training. She is super cute and fits right in with us girls.

Now that your all caught up I will defiantly try to keep this updated better. I miss everyone and I'm talking to you guys Jake, Kai, Ryder, Mom, Dad, Maria, Eric, Katie, Kenrick, Maggie, and Tommy.

Okay so keep livin and lovin
Love Emma
